You need written permission before running any report. The process differs slightly depending on whether you're screening a tenant or a job candidate.
Tenant screening: collect a signed, dated rental application authorizing a complete background check — or send your applicant a secure email link so they can consent and enter their own information online. Employment screening: provide the candidate with a standalone FCRA release form (we supply one at no charge), have them fill it out, sign it, and date it, then keep the signed copy on file. Both methods are FCRA compliant.
